About Us
2nd Family Dogs is a family owned and operated business established to offer high quality, convenient dog daycare, boarding and grooming services for your dog. We have been open since 2013.
Our premier facility is designed especially for your dog’s safety, health and comfort. Quality and safety are considered in every aspect of our business. We are dog lovers and dog owners ourselves and we believe in providing a clean and safe environment for your best friend.
We are now also managing UltiMutts! Two facilities with the same love and care!
We know that far too often we have had to let our pet parents know that we have not had availability for requests for boarding, daycare and grooming. We are incredibly grateful for our loyal 2nd Families and decided to find a way to offer more availability for your pups. We don’t have space to grow at 2nd Family Dogs, so we are doing the next best thing: taking over the management, staffing and processes at the UltiMutts facility in McKinney. UltiMutts is only 3 miles from our location and has plenty of opportunity to grow. This is a beautiful facility that is only 2 years old and has great kennels and play yards that we know your pups will enjoy.

UltiMutts is close and conveniently located at 4601 Alma Road in McKinney. We will still fully utilize our 2nd Family Dogs site but adding more availability by taking over management, operations and staffing at UltiMutts will help provide more availability and choice for your pups. With this additional opportunity, we are looking forward to saying “YES we have availability” when you need us.
Our Name
We named our business 2nd Family Dogs because that is what we want to be for your dog. A place where you know we treat your dog like we would treat our own dogs – as family.
Our facility is designed in a way that allows you to have web cam access to our play yards, playrooms, and kennels and they are not password protected. We believe a business that has nothing to hide … hides nothing.
We train our staff on sanitation, cleaning, dog behaviors, dog safety, dog handling and first aid.

Our goal is to give your pet the treatment they deserve and the attention you want them to have.
Convenient Location
Dogs Come First… then comes convenience!
We are located on State Highway 121 between the Stacy and Alma exits so that you can drop off and pick up your pooch in a hurry without going out of your way! Our “drive right up - covered entryway” will keep you dry when it’s raining and you can always grab a quick cup of coffee in our lobby when you head in to work.
Whether you are headed North, South, East or West you have easy access to our site for quick drop off and pick up of your pet.
